MATH RULES!!!
What we've been doing is, linear measurement, liquid volume measurement, mass and weight measurement, and perimeter and area.
Lake Shore district is using a new math program called Math Expressions. This series will have daily math homework, daily reminder work(spiral review activities), and 90 minutes of instruction. We will be using a center based system for math instruction in our class this year. This method has four components that will be used during one math period every day. The first is new concept instruction which demonstrates the latest lesson and methods to work through to a solution. The second part is the practice session for the new concept learned. Third will be a spiral review that addresses previously learned math concepts from the present year or past year to keep fresh. Finally the students will either work with the teacher in areas of difficulty or engage in math concept games. The schedule of lessons will be made available as we move from one unit into the next. We will follow through the grade level expectations in the following order: (place value, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, measurement, and geometry).
